The #1 Skill to Master in 2025: How to prompt AI for Better Results

Artificial intelligence isn’t the future; it’s the present. But here’s the truth most people miss out on! AI is only as smart as the person using it.

That’s why prompting, which is the art of asking the right questions in the right way, is fast becoming the most valuable business skill of the decade.

Consider it like this

Imagine you have a new employee who is very clever and really keen to help. However, that employee is new, and they don’t yet understand you, your business, your products and your services, nor your brand.

How would you get them up to speed? You would provide training. You’d tell them in detail what you wanted them to do. You’d make sure that they fully understood, and you’d probably ask them if they needed any further information before they carried out the work. That’s what prompting AI is about!

Why Prompting Matters More Than Ever

We’ve all tried using A.I. tools like ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini… and walk away saying, “It doesn’t work for me.” “It does not understand our business.”
But the problem isn’t the technology — it’s the input.

Just like in real life, if you ask a vague or lazy question, you’ll get a vague or lazy answer. AI simply mirrors the quality of your thinking and communication.

The difference between “OK results” and “game-changing results” often comes down to how you prompt.

The Secret Behind Powerful Prompts

A great prompt combines content and context — what you want and why you want it.

Here’s a simple framework I use and teach clients inside Results Mastery:

  1. Define the goal – Be clear on what outcome you want (e.g., “write a 200-word ad that converts local business owners”).
  2. Add context – Share who you are, your target market, tone of voice, and what success looks like.
  3. Be specific – Tell the A.I. what to include or avoid (e.g. “use British English, include a CTA, avoid jargon”).
  4. Sort out the tone – Do you want AI to be professional, friendly, traditional, or enthusiastic?
  5. Iterate – Keep refining. The first answer is just the start.
  6. Ask AI if it is clear – on what you want or if it needs further information.
  7. Add information into AI. For example, I might say, ‘This is a link to my website results-mastery.com. Write me an email campaign in the same style as my website

The more information and direction you give, the more intelligent the output becomes.

AI Won’t Replace You – But Someone Who Uses It Well Will

Prompting isn’t about knowing how to use AI tools; it’s about knowing how to think strategically and communicate precisely. Those who master this will save hours, cut costs, and multiply productivity.

I’ve seen businesses slash man-hours, eliminate hiring needs, and massively improve marketing output simply by learning to prompt effectively.

If you want to future-proof your business, start by mastering this one skill.
